Happy Navratri

Hello dear friends.....wish you all a very Happy Navratri. Festival season has already started with Maa's arrival. The air of joy and energy comes with the festival of Navratri, the nine days of festivities culminates with the celebration of Vijayadashmi. Festival brings a kind of energy and freshness to mundane life. It is a time to celebrate goodness and peace.

Celebration time also means cleaning and decking up your abode and making yummy sweets and loads of food. This festival season, I am going to share some colourful crafty ideas here in my blog...hope you find them interesting. Here I am sharing some pictures of Maa Durga which I made using home made Salt Dough and painted it with the acrylic colour. Salt dough is made using equal amount of flour and salt. After making dough, you can make any figure and put it into oven for 1-4 hours depending on the thickness of the figure. After it cools down you can colour it. It is a fun project to do it with kids. For detailed instructions, here is the link.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Aren't these roses gorgeous....Their delicate beauty is appealing... isn't it? Would you believe me if I tell you that these are not.... REAL.!!

Yep these are not real roses...I made them with coffee filter and coloured them with water colour. Leaves are real... from a outdoor green plant( I don't know the name). I thought it would add some charm to these delicate roses.

How I made them? I found this amazing tutorial from Martha Stewart. Here is the link.

So I hope you like it....I am off to make some more...enjoy the beauty or make some if you like.....their freshness will stay forever.

Have a great weekend dear all.

Back to Blogging

Greetings to all my friends...I am back to my artsy & crafty world after a long pause. I am happy to tell you that the move went well and now I am nesting in my new abode comfortably. Though there are few things still to take care of... but I am taking things one at a time. Today, I decided to start my blogging again... so here I am writing this post while enjoying the fresh morning sun.

This summer flew by so quickly.. and with this move to a new place, I hardly noticed anything. Now September is half way through already..... soon autumn leaves will be covering the trees and nature will be in a total new colour. This summer, I took up my embroidery project. When I started it, I had no idea how I am going to finish this. But little by little miss sunshine fleece came into shape.... I am so glad to finished it on time. My design inspiration came from Mexican embroidered dresses that I saw here. I love the array of colours and floral compositions in the Mexican embroidery... I am planning to make one more piece soon ....Hope you like my this attempt..

I draw floral pattern on plain fleece with pen..

After embroidering the pattern I added some pompoms to make it look more fun.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.

*BLOG ANNIVERSARY*

Hi Friends …..I know I have been absent from Deepi’s World from quite sometime now. But I have a reason for my absence…. I am in a process of Moving….yeah… moving to a new place…. leaving Connecticut and its brutal winter for a much warmer place. At the same time….leaving the place where I lived for good eight years is not coming so easy on me ….I am out of my comfort zone for sure. So my days are filled with planning and packing now...all my creative energy is going in the big brown boxes :)

My mind is so much clouded by this move that I almost forgot that my blog has completed its first year…..yep “Deepi’s World” turned ONE last Saturday. On this blog anniversary, I would like to thank all my wonderful followers and friends for taking interest in my work…. taking time to stop by and leaving generous comment. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

It will take me some time to get back to active blogging and commenting…. but I promise I will drop by some time to say Hello!

Have a great day everyone!

Drawstring bag

Hello dear friends!! I am back to my blogging world ….I haven’t posted in a long time …my apologies. I must admit …I was a bit lazy from last couple of weeks….result…..lot of pending work and no time for blogging….but now it all sorted and I am so glad to be back to catch up with my lovely blogger friends.

So how is summer fun going? Mine is going good so far. Miss sunshine’s school will be closed in few days. I have planned a lot of craft work for this summer holidays…as she love scissors, paper and glue. So we will be making a collage album together. Hopefully my plan will work and there will be less TV time this summer….have to keep them engaged for my sanity:)) enough of my talk now …its time to tell about today’s post. Well it’s a simple and useful drawstring bag… I made couple of them. I love making drawstring pouches as it is easy to make. I am sharing some clicks… hope you like it….

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Make Over-2

It all started with a plain fleece & ticker tape and ended with love and hugs from Miss sunshine. Long story short ...got some great deal on fleeces so bargain hunter in me couldn't resist:)).... lovely colour but plain fleeces so my creative side couldn't resist. And I ended up giving them a make over. This time the idea came from miss sunshine's mind. I asked her what should I do to this fleece...Flowers... Flowers... make some flowers mumma...I looove flowers!! she said instantly.

I liked her idea and made some flowers. I got the tape ($1) from a local store ... it has some purple shades too and was going perfectly with the fleece.... so I decided to give it a try. These flowers are easy to make and take less time. All I did ... cut the tape to a desirable length ... did running stitch to the one side then I pulled the thread to gather it... stitched it in a circle shape.. after couple of layers it was done. I clicked some pictures that will explain the process too. These kind of flowers are great for headbands and hair clips too. So take a look and do let me know what you think...

Have a great weekend eveyone.
