Warli Painting

Folk art has a unique way of depicting life. Its earthiness and simplicity has charm of its own and this is the reason why I admire Warli paintings. So let’s explore the world of Warlis. Warli painting is a folk art made by the Warli tribe based in Thane district of Maharastra ,India. The word "Warli" comes from "Warla " which means a piece of land or a field . Warli tribe have their own belief system, lifestyle and customs which have nothing in common with Hinduism. They speak an unwritten dialect mingling Sanskrit, Marathi and Gujarati words. Warli paintings are very primitive in nature depicting everyday life. These paintings are simply painted on mud, charcoal and cow dung treated surfaces with rice paste for the colour white. Geometrical shapes like circle, triangle and square are used to form human and animal figures. Simple in nature warli paintings unfolds the scenes of the tribal life along with trees, animals and birds in a very cohesive way. Now a days,Warli paintings can be seen on paper, vases, mugs, bedsheets, apparel too. No doubt, Warli painting has long way to go. I got so much inspired by the warli paintings that I painted a canvas bag with warli motives. Well I am pretty happy with the result.... not bad for the first timer ....what do

Gond Painting

Bright colours and amazing patterns of dots and lines of Gond has tremendous appeal. Their bright array of colors and unique sense of depicting natural world influence me the most. Gond Painting of Madhya Pradesh is a folk art and like all other folk art forms, subject matter of these paintings are nature and life around.You can learn more about it here and here 

Couple of days back I made my first gond inspired work. I need little more research and practice on their design and pattern works, so I can try it on a canvas. For now, I am happy with these little pieces that I made.

blooms in my rooms

Hi dear friends....hope your week is going on well. Mine is moving in a right direction too. Last week, I finished all my paper streamers(now i can buy more :) ) making these bloom sticks. Now these sticks are adorning my bedroom's side table. Dear miss sunshine gathered some sticks from outside. We gathered the paper streamers and floral tape. Twisting, rounding and turning , that's all we did and later attached them to the sticks. It was fun to do it with children. They get more excited than me to see the end results. I hope to pass on my creative side to them.

hello dear friends ...today's post is all about creative recycling. Paper craft is really fun and if you are creating something out of waste that add another charm to it. As you can see in the picture a waste box is turned into lovely container. I have a habit of cutting cute picture or designs from a magazines and i keep collecting flower and bird pictures that i can use later in my projects. here i used the words print out of a magazine along with paper flowers and butterfly. Inspiration from Nature

Hello there...today's inspiration comes from nature. Some acorns colored with crimson red paint, bringing beauty of nature to my computer table these days. I saw some lovely ideas of painted bottles on pinterest. I painted mine with cool blue color. Added some natural beauty of acorns and I got this lovely piece for my table...

This is something I did for fun two days back...attached ear buds to the branches using flower tape and result was not bad I would say...
