Something Out Of Nothing

Hello dear friends...hope you are keeping up well. Life is little bit relaxed as the summer vacation has started...so I am enjoying my sleep. I can't live without good sleep......true with everyone right! And when I get good sleep I think better :) So with well rested mind I finished this recycled bag in no time. I liked the way it turned out. Cute little bag out of the gunny sack and I got a chance to challenge myself to create something out of nothing. This is what I love about blogging, it gave me a chance to make or do things that were in the house but I never thought of making  something out of them. I always loved the creative things and learned a lot from my mother but making something every week and getting excited about what I am doing is all because of this blog. It really opened the doors for me to meet so many talented and creative blogger friends and learn new things and get inspired as well. I am happy to continue this as it makes me happy.

Here are some pictures I clicked while making this scrap bag.

Learning crochet these days so I thought why not try some...

I guess yarn and color give a nice look to gunny sack....

Here how it looks from inside...

some plastic beads from miss sunshine...color choice by her since she gave it to me.

And its done....Guess my rice sacks are not going anywhere now, all are going to get some kind makeover one by one :))

Have a wonderful weekend dear all and thanks for your wonderful comments.

Play-Dough Flowers

Hello dear friends....guess what... I am playing with Play-dough these days. I made these beauties yesterday using play-dough. I really loved the way these flowers turned out...its addicting actually, once I started it I can't stop myself. I am still thinking about how I am going to use these flowers in my project. They are still soft ....it will take some time to dry. Play-dough comes in variety of colors and new shade can be  made mixing two colors together.
Hope you will enjoy the flower shower as you
scroll down. Have a great week ahead!

Viva Mexico

Hello dear friends!.....Hope everything going well at your end. Here are some lovely images from the book( i talked before) Viva Mexico, the folk arts by George Ancona. Some images are not very sharp, sorry about that. I am totally in love with these wonderful hand embroidered dress. Filigreed gold necklace hang heavily on embroidered blouse and skirt. Amazing hand work isn't it?

Embroidered dress from Yucatan areas of Mexico. All the colorful flowers popping out from the white base dress.

carved wooden shapes painted with brilliant colors and the detail work is simply amazing  I love the blue base of this vase.

Swift and nimble fingers weaving colored stripes into a toy airplane. This picture reminded me of the straw work I have seen many times in Indian craft fairs.

 Papel Picado

Mexican paper artist and crafts people spend many hours making something that will disappear in few seconds.A fiesta started with papel picado. Sheets of colored tissue paper with images stamped out on them string together across street, plazas, rooms. I liked the way they did the border of the designs in these images.Their paper art and the intricate details are amazing.

Hope you like this little glimpse of Mexican art and craft world.

Anyways, last week I made this crazy dot pattern on an empty bottle...I think its looking good with the paper flowers I made. I have seen some gorgeous painted bottles.... I guess on Color Caravan's face book page. I hope to paint some detailed work in near future. But right now I am fine with this one.
