A Bag out of Gunny Sack

Hello friends....well Valentine day is so near...I am almost done with miss sunshine Valentine exchange but still need to make a Valentine box for her so there will be lots of paper heart on my working desk tomorrow. I will be posting the cute gifts that I am working on tomorrow. For today, its another recycling project I finished last weekend.

I made this bag out of this gunny sack as you can see ....this is basically an experiment. I am trying to learn sewing, so I am using whatever I can find in my house...from old sheets to gunny sack... just to practice and get better at it.This one turned well...  I have some pictures to share...

I have used t-shirt yarn and felt to make this design and stick it with hot glue gun...
Hope you will like the idea.... see you soon

Ruffled Ribbon

Hello there....hope you are having good time. We are half way through the month of January so quickly. This is my second project of the year...a quick recycling one. I loved this polka dot ribbon of my daughter's old dress. Since she is no longer wearing it I thought why not reusing the ribbon to dress up a plain skirt that she already has. I simply make ruffles and stitched it. I guess her skirt looking nice with new addition. What do you think?

I guess this will make a nice flower for hair clip too.

Pretty right? Bye for now....see you again with a next post.

Something Out Of Nothing

Hello dear friends...hope you are keeping up well. Life is little bit relaxed as the summer vacation has started...so I am enjoying my sleep. I can't live without good sleep......true with everyone right! And when I get good sleep I think better :) So with well rested mind I finished this recycled bag in no time. I liked the way it turned out. Cute little bag out of the gunny sack and I got a chance to challenge myself to create something out of nothing. This is what I love about blogging, it gave me a chance to make or do things that were in the house but I never thought of making  something out of them. I always loved the creative things and learned a lot from my mother but making something every week and getting excited about what I am doing is all because of this blog. It really opened the doors for me to meet so many talented and creative blogger friends and learn new things and get inspired as well. I am happy to continue this as it makes me happy.

Here are some pictures I clicked while making this scrap bag.

Learning crochet these days so I thought why not try some...

I guess yarn and color give a nice look to gunny sack....

Here how it looks from inside...

some plastic beads from miss sunshine...color choice by her since she gave it to me.

And its done....Guess my rice sacks are not going anywhere now, all are going to get some kind makeover one by one :))

Have a wonderful weekend dear all and thanks for your wonderful comments.

Colour Splash

I am so ready to show you, what I finished last weekend. I turned a plain place mat into a bright and colorful piece. Its easy to do as it requires simple hand sewing.  I bought a place mat from Ikea...loved its deep wine color and  that was the reason behind the purchase. As you know, the idea was to turn it into some thing colorful and festive. I picked the bright felt pieces that reminded me of  Holi . Design inspiration for this  patch work piece came from Suzani pillow work. I saw some lovely images on Google. I totally love the designs and the colors used in the embroidery.  Here is the link ...hope you will enjoy the gorgeous images as I do.

Cute little bag

Creative recycling ...is not only a wonderful thing but it very satisfying to see the end result. I love up-cycling  and that was the idea behind the small bag, I made for miss sunshine. I got my sewing machine last November  and to tell you the truth I don't know much about sewing. So this is my first practice project with my new sewing machine. I hope to get better at it in future...guess i need more research and practice. For this bag, I used gunny sack and old cotton dress of my daughter. I cut a square piece out of the gunny sack covered it with the cotton fabric and  added colorful flowers made out of felt scraps. Here are some pictures...hoping to improve my sewing skills for the new project.

B is for Blue

What a lovely color! that's what came to my mind when I saw this place mat in a local shop. It was the single piece but that didn't stop me. I had  already planned in my mind what  its going to turn into. Initially, I thought I would do some applique work on it, later I thought some felt flower would be nice. After much brain storming, I settled for a quick embroidery and sew on some fancy leaves that my mother send me couple of years back. I am sure she will be happy to see that I have used it finally. Now this little fancy thing sits on my coffee table.

Drawstring bag

Hello dear friends!! I am back to my blogging world ….I haven’t posted in a long time …my apologies. I must admit …I was a bit lazy from last couple of weeks….result…..lot of pending work and no time for blogging….but now it all sorted and I am so glad to be back to catch up with my lovely blogger friends.

So how is summer fun going? Mine is going good so far. Miss sunshine’s school will be closed in few days. I have planned a lot of craft work for this summer holidays…as she love scissors, paper and glue. So we will be making a collage album together. Hopefully my plan will work and there will be less TV time this summer….have to keep them engaged for my sanity:)) enough of my talk now …its time to tell about today’s post. Well it’s a simple and useful drawstring bag… I made couple of them. I love making drawstring pouches as it is easy to make. I am sharing some clicks… hope you like it….

Have a great weekend everyone!!
