and started a new embroidery project yesterday....its been a long time since I embroidered my daughter's fleece, you can see here. This time I am keeping it simple..scattered  bullion roses only. Looks like I am under the spell of Spring. See you soon and enjoy your day!

Blue Purse

Hello there.....how is your summer going so far. I am really enjoying gardening these days, I planted some flowers in my garden and now they are blooming. It is a real pleasure to see budding beauties around you. This week, I tried to finish this small purse and finally its done. I got a pack of felt sheets from a store with lovely bright to make felt flowers with them. I turned one blue felt sheet into a purse and embroidered a little design on the front side and soon will be working on the next one. I will be sharing that project with you too.

See you next week and have a happy weekend.

Painted Canvas Tote

Hello dear friend !! Friday is here and I am enjoying it. Hope you are doing the same. These days I am reading a very nice book about the folk art of Mexico. I am totally mesmerized by the beautiful and colorful craft work they do. I am going to share the images in my next post...so you can see what I am talking about.
Summer is here...  soon miss sunshine summer holidays will start ....I am planning to make summer break  fun for her with little learning. I am thinking about exploring the world of Origami.  I don't know much about it either...so it will be fun to explore new craft with her. You tube is a great resource. They have some nice kid science projects as well....guess I will  be spending  my time there :)  I will be sharing our crafting adventures with you all  :))

Here I am sharing the images of the little makeover of a canvas bag  I made to gift someone. I got plain canvas bag from store ...painted a floral design and embroidered it with black thread and its done. It was simple and easy project. Hopefully, person receiving will like it ...fingers crossed. Well that's all from Deepi's World today... Have a nice weekend !!

B is for Blue

What a lovely color! that's what came to my mind when I saw this place mat in a local shop. It was the single piece but that didn't stop me. I had  already planned in my mind what  its going to turn into. Initially, I thought I would do some applique work on it, later I thought some felt flower would be nice. After much brain storming, I settled for a quick embroidery and sew on some fancy leaves that my mother send me couple of years back. I am sure she will be happy to see that I have used it finally. Now this little fancy thing sits on my coffee table.

Back to Blogging

Greetings to all my friends...I am back to my artsy & crafty world after a long pause. I am happy to tell you that the move went well and now I am nesting in my new abode comfortably. Though there are few things still to take care of... but I am taking things one at a time. Today, I decided to start my blogging again... so here I am writing this post while enjoying the fresh morning sun.

This summer flew by so quickly.. and with this move to a new place, I hardly noticed anything. Now September is half way through already..... soon autumn leaves will be covering the trees and nature will be in a total new colour. This summer, I took up my embroidery project. When I started it, I had no idea how I am going to finish this. But little by little miss sunshine fleece came into shape.... I am so glad to finished it on time. My design inspiration came from Mexican embroidered dresses that I saw here. I love the array of colours and floral compositions in the Mexican embroidery... I am planning to make one more piece soon ....Hope you like my this attempt..

I draw floral pattern on plain fleece with pen..

After embroidering the pattern I added some pompoms to make it look more fun.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.

Something out of Nothing

Hello my friends,

It is Cricket WORLD CUP, WORLD CUP & WORLD CUP everywhere...OMG, I'm so happy to see Indian team playing in the finals...Good Luck for the finals to men in Blue....

I just can't believe that it's already Thursday and it’s time to publish my weekly post. I would like to ask all of you a question, is it just me or everyone experiencing that the time is flying…

I was working on this project since Monday, finally it’s done. This time I attempted to make something out of nothing....a thing which I was about to throw away but I didn’t. Thank God… I listened to the creative voice inside my head which said make something out of this. So this time I recycled the burlap bag that we got from grocery shopping and the end results have been captured by my trusted camera. I just cut the bag and made some place mats for my kitchen using some old t-shirt, cloth scraps, threads and little imagination. Please have a look and let me know your feedback or input...

A happy heart:))

Little Stitches

“An empty mind is a devil’s workshop and one must keep doing something.” inspired by this fair idea my maa decided to keep me busy as soon as my school closed for summer holidays. So after enquiring here and there she finally made up her mind and declared …”You are going to learn embroidery in this summer break... its only 15 minute walk from here …50 rupees ($1.5) for a month (its in budget) and its better to learn something new rather than sitting idle…Mamta (our neighbor’s daughter) is going there already… she will be accompanying you tomorrow.”

The news wasn’t disturbing at all… I knew this would happen but what saddened me the most that I was going to miss Doordarshan’s afternoon telecast… Alas! The decision was made. So the next day, things were ready for me… one meter pink cloth, four maroon color embroidery floss and two needles packed in my tote bag…Mamta was punctual, I must mention this… while leaving the house Maa gave me two instructions from the kitchen… take your umbrella! (Sun screen lotions wasn’t there in the market back then:)) and be careful with the needles… don’t poke your fingers!

While walking towards the place, Mamta briefed me on the three other girls I will be meeting there and the embroidery lady… they call her, Bullu Aunty. ”Bullu Aunty lives in a one bedroom house with big veranda. She stitches suits, dresses, embroiders bed linens, table cloths, sarees and teaches embroidery to support her family. She is very nice, but very particular about the neat work and often asked to redo stitches if it’s not up to her expectation.” stated Mamta without a pause.

As soon we reached Bullu Aunty’s place, she greeted us with a smile and lead us to the veranda where other girls were sitting. I was mesmerized by her incredible talent as soon as I entered the house…every corner had her mark. After little chit chat she explained what she’ll be teaching in next thirty days…then she passed some patterns with the carbon paper to transfer on the piece of cloth… and with two strings in the needle my first lessons began... after few days I started enjoying it and soon one month passed. During these thirty days she taught me different stitches with great interest and patience… some I still remember and some not…. all I can say now... for me, Mamta and other girls… it was summer holidays well spent… for her it was a means of earning money which she did with honesty ...but what I really learnt from her … is to give your very best shot and above all enjoy whatever you do…

Kantha or the running stitch was first thing she taught us. Here I blended it with a freebie from an airline….Take a look.

Waiting for your feedback...

with little blanket stitch and a piece of cloth, my coin purse looks new....Yeah!!

Have a great weekend everyone.
